AGE: 27 • Newark
Michael R. Bellafore, age 27, of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 27, 2015.
A native Delawarean, Michael was born in Wilmington on December 21, 1987 and was a son of William J. and Patricia A. Bellafore. He was a graduate of McKean High School and received both his bachelor's degree in accounting and master's degree in finance from Goldey Beacom College. After completing his education, Michael accepted a position with Bank of America, where he was employed as an accounting specialist for the past 3 years.
An avid swimmer in his youth, he competed with both the Arundel and McKean High School swim teams. Michael gave of his time and talents in his community as a volunteer for Special Olympics of Delaware and Habitat for Humanity. He was happiest in the company of his family and friends and especially enjoyed spending time with them at the beach.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, William. He is survived by his mother, Patricia; siblings, Matthew Parker (Myly), Joey Bellafore (Katie) and Ellise Bellafore; uncle, Bobby Isakoff (Stephanie); nephews, Sebastian and Joey.
A funeral service will be held at 7 pm on Thursday evening, October 1, 2015, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 4pm until 7pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael's memory may be made to Special Olympics Delaware, 619 South College Avenue, Newark, DE 19716.

To the Bellafore Family,
I met Michael through my work at Best Buddies Delaware, a program that helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Michael joined in 2013 and was matched with his Buddy John. They were a great match from the start and Michael brought much joy and fun into not only John's life, but other people in Best Buddies.
What most struck me about Michael was his warmth, acceptance and kindness for others. He had a gentle, thoughtful and unassuming manner. He will be greatly missed in Best Buddies.
May each of you, and the family of Sarah continue to feel the prayers and support of all who love them.
Please know Michael was loved, respected and will be greatly missed.

I have known Mike for many years. Mike swam with my son in High school then they lived together at an apartment then my house for awhile! He was truly a gentle soul, very respectable and polite when he lived with us. Felt like another son to me! I wish all the families my sympathy and hope that they know that Mike wouldn't want anyone to be sad for him and to live your life like he would want you to live and that he is reunited with his Father which I know how heartbroken he was when he passed away!

Mike was a beautiful person inside and out. I have known him since middle school and was proud to see him grow into a respectable, hard working man. His charismatic personality never faded, only grew. It hurts my heart to have to say goodbye to such a genuine, authentic, sincere and unforgettable person who was loved by all. I was one of Michael's Professors at GBC. He was such an excellent student---full of life and dedicated to being successful in his career choice. It hurts so much to see him lose his life at such a early age. I will always hold a special remembrance of Michael.
