Albert Anthony Del Pizzo

AGE: 75 • Hockessin

Albert Anthony Del Pizzo, 75, of Hockessin, Delaware, passed away December 28, 2016, peacefully at home surrounded by his devoted family. He was born on April 25, 1941, in Wilmington, Delaware, the youngest of five children, to the late Albert P. Del Pizzo and the late Mary A. (Pacelli) Del Pizzo. Albert remained strong and hopeful as he fought a courageous battle against Mesothelioma.

Albert graduated from H. Fletcher Brown Vocational High School, in electrical trades. He began his career in 1959, working for F&M Scientific Corporation in New Castle, Delaware, later known as Hewlett Packard/Agilent Technologies. He worked in several management positions, retiring after 39 years in 1999.

Albert's retirement was varied and full with numerous activities including, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, The Sunday Breakfast Mission, Tri-State Bird Rescue, and served as a board member for the Delaware Audubon Society. Albert shared a genuine passion for nature, especially birds and was exceptional in his hobby of decoy carving. He enjoyed planting his garden every spring and supplying his family with "massive" amounts of vegetables. He attended his grandchildren's sporting and musical events, worked with his sons, and looked forward to fishing and crabbing on his boat every summer. He traveled to Italy with his wife Connie and entertained us with many stories. He was an avid UD football fan and loved watching the Redskins and Ravens at home with his family. Most importantly, he was a loving, friend, husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie (Bartoli) of 53 years, his sons; Albert (Candi) of Newark, DE, Michael (Jacqueline) of Wilmington, DE, and Matthew (Linda) of Port Penn, DE, his grandchildren; Olivia, Emily, Michael, Jr. and Phoebe Del Pizzo, three sisters, one brother and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at St. Catherine of Siena, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington, Delaware 19808, where family and friends may visit from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Interment will be private.
