Alfred (Al) E. Kempski, Sr.

AGE: 88 • Wilmington, DE

Alfred (Al) E. Kempski, Sr., 88, passed away on January 23rd, 2016 after battling a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Al was born in Wilmington, DE, graduated from Wilmington High school, served in the United States Army and was a machinist at DuPont Wilmington Shops for 30 years. He loved spending his summers at his beloved beach house in Bethany Beach with his family and friends. Despite any formal education, he was a master mechanic, a brilliant carpenter and an avid hunter and fisherman.

Al is preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank and Anna Kempski, his brother, Frank Kempski, Jr., and his two sisters, Ann Boutin and Trudy Arcudi. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lillian Giansanti Kempski; three children, Alfred E. Kempski, Jr. and wife, Janine, Roxane Calvetti and Karen Kempski-Cannon and eight grandchildren, Domenic Calvetti, Chip Davis, Theresa Kracyla and husband, Brian and Stefan, Vincent, Christopher, Matthew and Michael Kempski.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 1st, 2016 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 AM at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Rd. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington.
