ALFRED MENDENHALL Obituary

Alfred M. Mendenhall

Age 86 of Alpharetta, GA died on Thursday, November 24, 2005, after a long illness.

Al, or Fred as he was often called, was born and raised in Kennett Square, PA and resided most of his working life in Newark, DE. After retiring, he and Lib moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, where they spent most of their retirement years. They moved to GA to be close to family in 2001. Al was noted for his ability to make friends and bring smiles to those who knew him. He was active in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Newark and the First Presbyterian Church in Myrtle Beach. He was most recently a member of Alpharetta Presbyterian Church. He became a Mason in 1955 and was active in the Shriners, both in Newark, DE and Myrtle Beach, SC. He and Libby enjoyed traveling, gardening and volunteer work at the hospital in Conway, SC. His photographs attest to his interest in nature and history. He will always be remembered for the love he shared with others.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Mendenhall; son, Richard E. Mendenhall of Fountain Hills, AZ; daughter and son-in-law, Ted and Betty Lynam of Cumming, GA; 5 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, December 4th, at the ROSWELL FUNERAL HOME, 950 Mansell Rd., Roswell, GA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, c/o Scottish Rite, 1687 Tullie Circle, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329 Attn: Diane Lee.
