The Honorable Judge Alfred R. Fraczkowski

AGE: 90 • Wilmington

Age 90, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, December 21, 2016.

Born in Wilmington, Judge Fraczkowski was the son of the late Peter L. and Laura C. (Chlebowski) Fraczkowski. A 1944 graduate of Salesianum School, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.

Judge Fraczkowski was the Chief Judge of Wilmington Municipal Court from 1969 until his retirement in 1998. He then continued to serve as a judge on the Delaware Court of Common Pleas until recently.

Over his long life he served the community in many other ways including counsel to the Diocese of Wilmington, the Board of St. Francis Hospital, and the Board of Trustees of Catholic Cemeteries.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth "Betsy" (Irwin) Fraczkowski; his daughter, Justine Ernst, Michele Sosangelis and her husband Sotir "Chuck"; his sons Kurt Fraczkowski and his wife Jeanne DiSanto, and David Fraczkowski and his wife, Kathleen, all of Wilmington; his sister, Justina Holmes; and his grandchildren: Ryan Ernst and his wife Shannon and their daughter Delaney; Emily and William Schluter and their son, Jack; Laurel Fraczkowski; and Adrienne and Gregory Fraczkowski. And many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 27th at 11 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Streets, Wilmington. Before the Mass, friends and family are invited to visitation beginning 9:30 AM at the church. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
