AGE: 92 • Middletown

Mr. Alfree E. Nabb, 92, of Middletown passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015.

He was born in Townsend on May 8, 1923 and enjoyed his adult life in Middletown. He graduated from Middletown High School in 1941 where he enjoyed baseball, basketball and track. His enjoyment of sports would continue throughout his life, especially his love for the N.Y. Yankees. Mr. Nabb proudly served in the US Army from July 1943 until Jan. 1945. He served with company K, the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. Mr. Nabb was wounded in Germany after service in North Africa, Sicily and the Allied Invasion at Normandy France. Mr. Nabb was a proud United States veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart among many other distinguished military awards. After his military service, he worked at General Motors in Newport for 31 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie (Nancy) Daniels, whom he married on February 17, 1943, and his sisters Elizabeth Taylor and Edna Douglas.

He is survived by his brother Charles and his wife Francis, his sister Helen Collins, his son Richard and his wife Sandy, his son Jay and his daughter Linda Chambers and her husband Bob. He has 4 grandchildren, Kristi Fry and her husband Dale, Robbie Chambers and his wife Tracy, Jennifer Johnson and her husband Kenny and Marjorie Graham and her husband Rob. He has 8 great grandchildren, Delaney, Drew, Eddie, Hunter, Austin, Chase, Hadley and Hunter.

The family would like to thank Caring Angels who provided the utmost care and kindness while he was at home. Heartfelt thanks also to the staff at Broadmeadow Nursing Home for their care and dedication during his stay.

Services will be held Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 1 pm at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Visitation will be from 12 - 1 pm prior to the service. Interment with Military Honors will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, New Castle DE 19720 and by naming Middletown Relay For Life in the memo line.
