AGE: 99 • Wilmington

Alice passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 after spending the last seven and one half years at the home of her loving caregiver, her daughter Sharry Russell. Alice was born in Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Herman and Mabel Fredrich.

She married Jim Roberts in Wisconsin and they lived there till 1942 when Jim came to Delaware to work in the shipyards during the war. Alice followed him to Delaware driving alone with three girls, ages 5, 3 and 3 months.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Jim in 2001; granddaughters, Cindy Hall and Tracey Knoll; grandson, George Graham; son-in-law, Clifton Russell; 5 sisters and 3 brothers.

She is survived by her daughters and husbands, Charmane Engle (Robert), Sharry Russell, Mavis Brittelli (David) and Gail Graham (George); brother Warren Fredrich of California; Grandchildren, Robert Engle, David Engle, James Russell, Scott Russell, Ann Brittelli, Pamela McCollum and Leslie Buckalew and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Alice enjoyed gardening and picking wild berries with Jim. She was well known in the community for her custom fitted slipcovers. She had been a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church since 1947 and was presented with an Honorary Life Membership of Presbyterian Women. She had been an Elder and Deacon and loyally served Calvary in many areas. She had volunteered at Emily Bissell Hospital, Blood Bank of Delaware and Richardson Park Community Action Program.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, July 30 at 11:00 AM at CALVARY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, Boxwood Rd. and Maryland Ave where visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. The graveside services will be private.
