Age 74, passed peacefully on January 28, 2017 at Christiana Hospital.

He is loved and missed by wife, Wendy; children, Jason (Megan), Gretchen (Doug), and Amanda; grandchildren, Emily, Sidney, Mason, Amelia, and Owen; his siblings, Diane (Tom), Gail (Kevin), Elaine (Brad), Mike (Shiree), Colleen (Denny), and Julie (Bob); in-laws, Grace and Marvin Hurwitz; and sisters-in-law, Jill and Beth (Sam). He was predeceased by his parents, Neva and Mason.

Allan, born in W. Frankfort, IL, grew up on a farm in Oakville, IA, moving to New London, IA as he got older. He had three careers: Insurance Investigator in Tennessee, International Engineering Consultant with Dupont, and Owner of Executive Offices, Inc. with his wife in New Castle, DE. Allan was a "can do everything" guy from sailing and stock car racing to construction and clock repair who loved and helped everyone. Allan was a very proud father, grandfather and mentor.

Friends and family may visit from 2 to 3 pm on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Wyndham, The Alumnae House of Bryn Mawr College, 235 N. Merion Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010-2899, where A Celebration of Life will begin at 3 pm. Please bring or email to [email protected] written or oral stories and anecdotes to remember Allan. Our guide, Margaret, can read or speak for anyone who is more reserved. Thank you in advance.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the healthcare .
