Allan H. Hart Obituary
Allan H. Hart

AGE: 100 • Formerly of Wilmington

Allan H. Hart of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on May 29, 2016 at 100 years of age under the watchful eyes of his devoted daughters Karen Hart and Carol Broadhurst. He was born in Elyria, Ohio and was a devout Ohio State Buckeye and ardent fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. Allan made his home of more than 70 years in Wilmington, Delaware, his career with E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Company, and his passion the people around him. At the drop of a hat, he could weave a story that touched any and all of these favorites. He was the embodiment of the words "dearly beloved."

Allan served in the US Army during World War ll stationed at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, but always found his service to be insufficient to those who sacrificed all. He enjoyed all sports, but was particularly fond of bowling at Price Lanes and playing softball. He was preceded in death by his wife Dora, the mother of his precious daughters, and his second wife and the girls' wonderful stepmother Caroline. In addition to his two daughters, he is survived by his son-in-law William Broadhurst, his grandchildren Andrew Ramsey, Matthew Ramsey and wife Allison, and Samantha Carrera and husband Michael, and his four great grandchildren, Stephen Bernys, Graham Ramsey, Piper Ramsey, and a Carrera to be named later.

Staff and residents of South Roanoke Nursing Home made his last years vital and filled with humor. Ever the champion of the underdog, Allan played hard, he played fair, and he loved those who did the same.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, Delaware. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. followed by graveside service with The Reverend Gillette of Limestone Presbyterian Church officiating. Arrangements by McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes.
