Alvin Crowl Obituary
Alvin Crowl

AGE: 66 • Wilmington

Age 66 of Wilmington, passed away on August 21, 2016.

Alvin was born in Wilmington, DE on September 27, 1949. He graduated from Conrad High School in 1967 and received his Engineering Degree from Del Tech in 1998, and with it a 1972 GTO. Health complications resulted in retirements from DelDot in 2007 after 40 years of employment and DeIANG in 1991 following 22 years of service. His participation with the DAP Pushmobile Derby, in which he raced as a child, was also effected.

He had also served as Scoutmaster of Troop 88 (St. Anthony of Padua) with several Eagle Scouts. Alvin was an active bowler and also played softball, competing in both sports locally and nationally with the ANG. He enjoyed going to car shows, traveling to Florida and Mississippi with his GTO, and began the Cruise for a Cure for Scleroderma Car Show in 2012 in which $30,000 was raised to benefit the Scleroderma Foundation Delaware Valley. He had also been a member of the FOE Eagles, Pontiac Club, Yesterday's Chevrolet, and the Wilmington Ostomy Association. Alvin enjoyed boating on the Elk River, the scene of many happy times at Crystal Beach Manor, and had found enjoyment in line dancing over the past few years until health did not allow him to do so in this past year. His line dance family has been of great support to his loved ones.

Alvin is survived by his mother, Mae; sister, Bev and her husband Bob Simpkins, and her son Jesse Lynch; devoted wife of 43 years, Angela (DiFebo) Crowl; son, Chris; 2 grandsons, Caeden and Ian; brothers-in-law, John (Debbie), Robert (Charlotte), Paul (Bonnie), and Philip DiFebo (Mary Sue); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl W. Crowl.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Sts in Wilmington, on Friday morning, August 26 at 11am. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave in Wilmington, on Thursday evening, August 25 from 6-8pm. No visitation will be held on Friday morning prior to mass.
