AGE: 88 • Greenville

In loving memory of Andrew Granville Pierce Hobbs, 88, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 8, 2015. Andy was born in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts in 1927 son of Franklin Warren Hobbs and Elsie Pierce Hobbs. He is survived by his only brother Franklin W. Hobbs III, his loving wife of 57 years Patty Weymouth Hobbs and his five children, Deo D. Hobbs, Andrew G.P. Hobbs Jr., George W. Hobbs, Samuel S. Hobbs, Margaret T. H. Swanson, their spouses and his 15 Grandchildren.

Andy was raised by his beloved grandmother Helen H. Pierce on the shores of Apponagansett Bay. He was fortunate to attend the Bement School, Brooks School and Harvard University, where he enjoyed his AD Club friends. He served his country during WWII. Andy was an avid reader of history and all things market related. His expertise lay in financial and company analysis. He was passionate about The Boys Club in his younger years and adored playing his weekly round of golf with his regular foursome in his latter years. Andy's favorite racehorse Fan Jet, was a founding horse of the Wilmington Mounted Police back in the 1970s. During his life Andy and Patty bred and raised countless horses and racing winners. The two of them spent many joyous hours trackside or in their barn on Dogwood farm. Andy will be remembered as a devoted husband to his wife Patty, dedicated and loving to his family, as well as, his extraordinary love for his horses and racing and overwhelming joy and love for his dogs.

The funeral service will be private.
