Anita L. Medkeff Obituary
Anita L. Medkeff

AGE: 81 • Wilmington, DE

Anita L. Medkeff died peacefully on May 31, 2016 in the Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Hospital. Anita was predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas B. Medkeff, who passed shortly before her on May 12, 2016, as well as her parents, David and Ida Baccino, of Wilmington, DE.

Anita graduated from Alexis I. du Pont High School in 1953 and was introduced to Tom shortly after by mutual friends. Their initial blind date turned into a 60-year marriage, and it is fitting to all who knew them that they passed so closely together.

Anita worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant in the real estate and construction fields and ultimately retired from Snyder Crompton & Associates Inc. Anita was always known to be a dedicated, diligent worker, as well as a truly good person with a kind, patient soul. She rarely lost her temper, despite life's challenges, and always had a smile on her face.

Anita and Tom lived on a farmette that had been in her family since 1926 and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and maintaining an immaculate property. Their home was the scene of many family gatherings over the years. They also enjoyed watching sports together, although often disagreeing on the "right" team to root for.

Anita is survived by two daughters, Sharon Altongy, of Summit, NJ, and Karen Mraz, of Wilmington, DE; and two grandchildren, Joey and Lindsey Altongy, of Summit, NJ.

A joint service for Anita and Tom will be held on Saturday, June 11, beginning with a visitation from 9-10 AM at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE, followed by a Mass of Christian burial from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, DE, and ending with a private burial at St. Joseph's on the Brandywine cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Hospital, 701 N. Clayton Street, Wilmington, DE, 19805, or Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Shopping Center, Newark, DE, 19711.
