Obituary Condolences

Anna M. Lessey

AGE: 87 • Wilmington

Anna M. Lessey, age 87, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully following a long illness on September 17, 2015 surrounded by her family.

She was born in City point, VA in 1927 and was the daughter of Leslie W. and

Carrie B. Mason. She graduated from P.S. duPont High School and attended Goldey Beacom College. She married George Earl Lessey in 1948 and worked as a senior secretary at Hercules, retiring when they began a family. Raising her children was foremost in her life.

She spent countless happy hours with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bridge, doll collecting, and the seashore. She and her sister, Dora Mae Mason began an in-home business, Jenny Beth's Dolls, repairing and restoring antique dolls. She continued the business on her own for another 35 years. She was a former member of West Presbyterian Church and attended Hillcrest-Bellefonte United Methodist Church. She was a member and Treasurer of the Delaware Doll and Toy Collectors Club.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Charlotte and Dora Mae, her brother, Leslie Jr., and her husband in 2003, George E., with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. She is survived by her son, Roger Lessey of Wilmington, Joyce (Steve) Elwell of Salem, NJ, and Carol Brindley of Wilmington; four grandchildren: J.C. (Jen) Elwell, Christine (Matt) Cocking, Jenna (David) McKinley, and Bethany (Kevin) Stark; seven great grandchildren: Hailey, Caden, Nicholas, Corinne, Cole, Logan, and Will; nephews Jack and Neal Cantrell, niece Karen Bunjo, and grand dog Bailey.

The family appreciates the professionalism and care provided by Wilmington Hospital
