Anthony MARTELLI Obituary

Anthony J. Martelli, Sr. "A.J." Age 81 of Kennett Square, PA passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2004, at Brandywine Hall in West Chester, PA. He was the husband of Anna Shaw Martelli, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Born in West Grove, PA, he was the son of the late Bernardo and Angelina Albano Martelli. Tony owned and operated A.J. Steaming in Kennett Square for 15 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Patrick Church; the Kennett Area Senior Center; the Swayne, Campbell, Testa VFW Post #5467; the Amphibious Order of Frogs in Downingtown, PA; and the Strasburg Sportsmen Association. He was a life member of the Italian American Club and a social member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Tony enjoyed fishing, playing cards, telling jokes, gardening and traveling. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 1 son, Peter G. Mar-telli, Sr. and his wife, Denise, of Toughkenamon, PA; 3 daughters, Susan Martelli Toomey of Toughkenamon, PA, Barbara Di-Filippo and her husband, Albert, of Avondale, PA and Ruth DiBenedetto and her husband, Francis, of Wilmington, DE. Other survivors include 1 brother, Guido Martelli and his wife, Mary I., of Wilmington, DE' 1 sister, Rose Martelli of New York, NY; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 1 son, Anthony J. Martelli, Jr.; and by a brother, Peter V. Martelli. Family and friends are invited to attend Tony's life celebration from 8:15-9:15 am on Tuesday, October 19, 2004, at the KUZO & GOFUS FUNERAL HOME, LTD., "A Life Celebration Home", State & Meredith Sts., Kennett Square. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday at St. Patrick Church, Cypress & Meredith Sts., Kennett Square. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his memory to St. Patrick Church, 212 Meredith St., Kennett Square, PA 19348; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
