AGE: 57 • Newark

Mr. Anthony "Tony" Ward, 57, of Newark, DE died of heart failure on November 18, 2016. He had many friends and was known for his sense of humor, his generosity and compassion to others. His interests included fishing and muscle cars. Tony owned several Chevelles, a Corvette and a Grand National. He enjoyed visits to Delaware Park and time spent at Argilla's Pub. Tony loved music and played drums with local bands, including "Crazy Dog," "Rocker Box" and "Broken Glass."

Tony was predeceased by his mother, Carole Clay Ward, who encouraged his love of music. She played guitar, sang, and wrote songs and poetry, and his brother, J. Stephen "Oz" Osbourne, who played guitar and drums in local bands during the 1960s and 1970s with "The Impacts" and other bands. He is survived by his companion of 40 years, Myrna Fair and was Dad to children, Amy McElwee and Jamie Douty. He is survived by Myrna's sister, Grace Matoy and brother, Gus McElwee. He is also survived by sisters, Barbara Mitchell and husband, Claude Mitchell, Sr, and Elizabeth Gellens; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30, Friday, February 10th at Newark United Methodist Church, 69 E. Main Street, Newark, DE, 19711, where friends may call one half-hour prior.
