Arturo J. Agra

Arturo J. Agra, age 86, of Newark, Delaware, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Christiana Hospital after a long illness. Born in Havana, Cuba in 1929, he attended Belen Jesuit School in Havana and graduated from the University of Havana in 1953. Arturo emigrated to the U. S. in 1961 with his wife, Silvia and two young children. He was proud to be a naturalized citizen of the USA and believed that the United States is the greatest county in the world. He shared 62 years of marriage with his wife Silvia, whom he always called "my beautiful wife." To his children he imparted a deep love of family and a lasting respect for education and hard work. Arturo worked as an accountant for Stauffer Chemical, Formosa Plastics and Honda East before retiring in December, 1998. He loved to play dominoes with his friends and was an avid baseball fan, cheering for both the Phillies and the Yankees. He was a devout member of Holy Angels Parish and swam regularly at the Western YMCA for over 40 years.

In addition to his wife Silvia, Arturo is survived by his daughter Silvia Hutchison and her husband Ron, his sons Arturo Agra and his wife Jean, Ed Agra and his wife Allison and Alfredo Agra. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Jennifer Lavoie (Michael), Matthew Hutchison (Chris), Daniel Hutchison (Kathy), Andrew, Andrea, Maria, Laura and Eric Agra. He is also survived by his sister Victoria Palacio of Tampa, Florida.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 22 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM.
