AGE: 57 • Wilmington

Passed away peacefully at Compassionate Care Hospice on Tuesday, December 15. 2015 surrounded by her family and close friends.

Born in Wilmington, Barbara was the daughter of Dora Ann (Walsh) and Charles T. Carr, Jr. Barbara was a graduate of St. Ann's School, Ursuline Academy, The Nursing School of Wilmington, and Wilmington University where she obtained her MBA and Nurse Practitioner degrees. Barbara devoted 35 years, primarily at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, to working with children with cancer. Her work included research, education, family support and charitable work to Beat the Beast and Kay's Kamp. Barbara created wonderful memories with her family and friends while playing with her grand children, hiking national parks, kayaking and spending any sunny day at the beach. Barbara's brother, Michael Carr, predeceased her in 2013.

In addition to her parents, Charles and Dora Carr, Barbara will be dearly missed by her husband of 31 years, James. F Plummer: her daughters, Meghan Quinn and her husband, Rory, and Maura Plummer: her son, Justin Plummer, all of Wilmington and her beloved grandchildren Braeden and Taylor Quinn and Mason McAllister. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters in law. Charles T. Carr III and his wife Susan of New Orleans, LA; Patrick Carr and his wife Lisa of Oaks, Pa, and Dennis M. Carr of Milford. Barbara will also be missed by Jim's mother Elizabeth Plummer and Jim's brothers Edmond and his wife Benita Plummer of Voorhees, NJ: Brother John Plummer and his wife Lisa of Newark, DE and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Sunday, December 20th between 3 and 5 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at St. Ann's Church, 2013 Gilpin Avenue, Wilmington at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private.
