Bernadette N. Czarnecki Obituary
Bernadette N. Czarnecki

Wilmington, DE - Bernadette N. Czarnecki passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 9, with her husband, Edward by her side. Bernadette was born on September 6, 1933 to Leon and Vera Nierychlewski and was a lifelong resident of Wilmington. She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth's High School. Bernie and Eddie were married at St. Hedwig's Church and would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in September. After raising three children, she returned to work at the DuPont Company, retiring after 15 years of service.

Bernie loved the beach, and she and Eddie enjoyed many summers at their beach house in Fenwick Island, DE, where they warmly welcomed and entertained their large circle of friends and family. Bernie's greatest love, however, was her children and grandchildren. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and not a day passed without one of her children or grandchildren calling or visiting, instantly bringing a smile to her face and joy to her day. She made the lives of her family better by being in it, and she will be dearly missed. In her leisure time, Bernie enjoyed basket weaving, arts and crafts, reading and weekly card games with Eddie and their friends.

Bernadette is survived by her devoted husband, Edward and their three children, Debra Reese (David), Michael "Mickey" Czarnecki (Heidi), and Donna Richard. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, the lights of her life: Amanda, Todd, and Zachary Reese; Mark and Kevin Czarnecki; Tyler and Erika Richard. She is pre-deceased by her four sisters, Veronica Szczepkowski, Helen Zaremba, Jeanette Magdycz, and Delores Nierychlewski.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, June 16 from 8:15 - 9:30AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington DE 19808. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Bernie's life will begin at 9:30AM at St. Catherine of Siena, followed by interment at Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington.
