AGE: 90 • Formerly of Wilmington

Betty King Funck, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at her home in Rose Court - Maris Grove, Glen Mills, PA. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Mary King of Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Betty's childhood home was on Cocoa Avenue, across the street from Hershey Park. She was a 1943 graduate of Hershey High School, where she was a faithful member of the chorus. Her first job was with Hershey Chocolate Corporation in the Traffic Department. Her strong family ties to Hershey remained throughout her life as she visited often with her children and grandchildren. She returned to Hershey yearly to ride the original rollercoaster, The Comet, with her grandchildren.

Betty married Dennis L. Funck, (deceased 2010) in 1948 and the couple moved to Wilmington, DE as Dennis started his career with the DuPont Company. They were married for 61 years, residing in Fairfax for 56 years, where they raised their family as original owners of a house on Monticello Road. She was a devoted mother and is survived by both her daughters, Patricia Kremer of Chadds Ford, PA and Pam Abrams of Orlando, FL. She loved the company of her sons-in-law Dr. Michael Kremer and Lehn Abrams. Betty had a very close relationship with her granddaughters, Lauren Curry and Kelly Kremer. She was blessed in November 2015 with a great-granddaughter Mia Curry, daughter of Matt and Lauren Curry. She enjoyed visiting Longwood Gardens and Hershey Park with her grandchildren and was an avid fan of their lacrosse and field hockey teams.

Betty enjoyed many years of volunteer work for the LPGA tournament at DuPont Country Club. She was an active member of the lady's 9-hole golf group at DuPont. Betty and Dennis spent many memorable times with their close friends in the Fairfax neighborhood. She was member of Concord Presbyterian Church for over 50 years as a devout Christian.

Betty and Dennis moved to Maris Grove in Glen Mills, PA in 2007 where Betty enjoyed numerous activities and the company of her fellow residents. She spent her later years at Rose Court and developed a special relationship with the kindhearted caregivers.

A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 9, at 11 am, in Concord Presbyterian Church, 1800 Fairfax Blvd, Wilmington, DE 19803. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Concord Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund.
