C. Jacqueline "Jackie" Keene Obituary
C. Jacqueline "Jackie" Keene

Elkton, MD

The Lord Jesus took one of his earthly angels home to Heaven Friday, March 3, 2017. Jacqueline passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus with her family by her side. In life, as in death, she was a kind and gentle soul who loved unconditionally. Miss Jackie, as she was known to many, had two birth children but many children of the heart.

Born in Stacy, VA on September 24, 1925 to the late Ezra and Linda Matney Yates, she was preceded in death by her husband of 641/2 years, Aldy H. Keene, four siblings and her best friend, Laura I. Crouse.

After graduating Grundy High School, Jackie and her mother moved to Elkton, MD to support the war effort. Her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Aldy, had enlisted in the Navy and was in and out of New York City. They married in 1944 during one of his furloughs and she followed him to New York where they lived in a tiny apartment on Staten Island, cherishing every moment together. After the war, they settled in Elkton, MD and had two children and became dedicated members of First Baptist Church. During her 60 years as a Christian, God used her love of people to lead many to love the Lord as much as she did. Jackie and Aldy traveled extensively over the world. Jackie retired from Avon Products after 25 years as a customer service representative.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Judith A. Roman and husband, George, Middletown, DE, and William Aldy Keene and wife Natinne, Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, L. Suzanne Robeson and husband, Todd, G. James Roman III, Jacqueline Davis and husband, Gareth, Alexander Keene and William Aldy Keene, Jr. and great grandchildren, Matthew and Hannah Robeson and Nolan Davis. Her extended family includes Andy Robeson, Emily Robeson, Connor Tweed and Erin Tweed and Kate Warner

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, March 9 at First Baptist Church, 607 Delaware Avenue, Elkton, MD 21921, with interment in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, March 8 and 10-11 AM Thursday morning at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church at the address above.
