Carmela I. "Carrie" Raezer Obituary
Carmela "Carrie" I. Raezer

AGE: 92 • New Castle

My beautiful Mom, Carrie (Carmela) I. Raezer, age 92, of New Castle, DE died at home on October 30,2015 surrounded at her bedside by her precious cats, Fluffy and Monkey, and her youngest daughter, Beverly. Mom, the last of 11 Italian children, was raised on a farm- loved working outdoors, building anything, decorating our home, and cooking great meals from scratch. Her homemade pie crusts were beloved by all who were lucky enough to taste her pies. She made our clothes, and was a talented seamstress for many others as well. Mom was a proud Army wife who raised 4 children pretty much on her own. She volunteered as a "Gray Lady" taking care of Army soldiers in the Veteran hospitals, and sang for the troops. Mom loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. Later in life, she cared for the elderly as a beloved CNA in Carmel, CA. In the 1980s, she won a contest as the "Most Glamorous Grandmother in Delaware" out of 1000 contestants. Mom always loved animals, and she alone rescued many, many stray cats over the years; feeding and sheltering them with great devotion; finding homes for them or taking them to a shelter; caring for them when they died.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Beverly Goad and Sharon Hartnett; son, Eric Raezer; 4 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Her oldest son, Scott N. Raezer, died in July 2015. They are together in heaven now.

My loving Mom, my dearest friend - I love you with all of my heart, and miss you so very much.

May you now rest in peace with God.

Your loving daughter, Beverly
