Caroline Voly (Vala') Cicatelli Obituary
Caroline Voly (Vala') Cicatelli

AGE: 93 • Wilmington

Caroline Cicatelli, often called Carolyn, age 93, of the Antonian, Wilmington, DE passed away into the arms of our loving God on Friday, March 18, 2016 surrounded by her family. Caroline was born to the late Michael and Rose (Corrozi) Voly (Vala') in Wilmington on June 9, 1922. She attended schools in the city and held many jobs until she retired from Diamond State Telephone Company Cafeteria. While she was raising her two daughters, she and her husband, Romeo, owned and managed Cicatelli's Grocery Store at 7th and Bancroft Parkway in Wilmington. A sole survivor of her generation and matriarch on both sides of the family, Caroline was known as the "thread of love". She was gentle, caring, and non-threatening to everyone she met. She simply loved family, friends, and children of all ages. In addition to her parents, Caroline was preceded in death by her life-long love and cherished husband, Romeo; baby daughter, Mary Ann; brothers and their spouses, Domenick Voly (Rose), Joseph Voly (Florence), and John Voly; and sister, Frances Sianni (Alec). Also, she suffered the loss of her 39 year old granddaughter, Roma Jadick. As a result of Caroline being blessed with a fruitful and long life, she also was predeceased by all her sisters and brothers-in-law, many cousins, and several nieces and nephews all of whom she dearly respected and loved.

Caroline is survived by her two daughters, Alberta (Ali) Whitney and her husband Chuck, and Carol Ann Fenimore and her husband Bob; three grandchildren, Suzanne Painter (Brian), Stephanie Antenucci Drych (John), and Robert Jadick (Lisa); 8 great-grandchildren, Leah (Dan), Jaime, Rachel, Vincent, Caroline, Robert, Ashely (Bruce), and Brian (Mallory); and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Growing up in St. Anthony of Padua's Parish, Caroline had many friends. Some became her neighbors at the Antonian. She enjoyed attending the Senior Center next door. Her friends there treated and cared for her like family.

To celebrate the life of this wonderful woman, join her family for visitation on Wednesday, March 23 from 11am-1pm at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave in Wilmington. A Funeral Service will begin at 1pm. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
