AGE: 85 • Smyrna, DE

Catherine H. McMillan, "Trink", age 85, of Smyrna, DE, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 19, 2016.

She was born September 17, 1930 in Dover, DE, the daughter of the late Frank and Marietta Houtman.

Trink loved walking, gardening, baking and volunteering her time and talents with many local organizations. Her life's passion was her commitment to her family, friends and community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Marguerite, Mary Jane, Peggy, Sr. Immaculata, John and Francis.

She is survived by her children, Kelley McMillan, Cindy Gonzalez and Michael McMillan (Leslie); grandchildren, Caitlin and Justin Gonzalez and Brody and Marlie McMillan; siblings, Joe Houtman (Angie), Bill Houtman (Pat), Mary Esther Nored, Sr. Jane Houtman, David Houtman (Debbie) and Fay Ahuja (Suthinder); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 6 to 9 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at St. Polycarp Parish, located at 135 Ransom Lane in Smyrna. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Dover.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the following organizations: Hispanic Ministry, c/o Sr. Jane Houtman, 321 E. Baltimore Pike, West Grove, PA 19390 or Saint Vincent de Paul, St. Polycarp Conference, 135 Ransom Lane, Smyrna, DE 19977 or First Presbyterian Church, 118 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, DE 19977.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jamil Khatri and the staff of Regional Hematology and Oncology, the staff of Bayhealth Kent General Stroke and ICU units and especially Dr. Emmanuel Rolluqui, Compassionate Care Hospice and the countless caregivers who cared for and attended to our mother's every need during her illness.
