Age 68 of Wilmington, passed away on July 2, 2016.

Charles was born in Wilmington, DE on June 27, 1948 to the late Charles and Mary (Gryzbowski) VanKerkhoven. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served with honor and valor in the Stratcom Unit while stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He then worked as a plumber and pipefitter for 29 years with the DuPont Company. An avid sports fan, he was a loyal and passionate supporter of the Phillies and Eagles, and found great joy in attending all of his sons' sporting events spanning from their youth through college. Above all, he was strongly devoted to his family and especially adored his grandchildren.

Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Lorraine; sons, Jason (Trisha) and Mark (Adrienne); grandchildren, Ryan, Sean, Leah, and Reese; sister, Cynthia Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave in Wilmington, on Monday evening, July 11 from 5-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 2431 Frazer Rd in Newark, the following morning, Tuesday, July 12 at 9:30am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown Stanton Rd, Newark, DE 19713 and/or to the Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave, Bethpage, NY 11714.
