Clara E. (Nowakowski) Kelley peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017.

Clara was born in Wilmington on March 4, 1921, daughter of the late Alexander and Alexandra (Krupa) Nowakowski. A loving and devoted homemaker, she was a gracious hostess who enjoyed entertaining, talking and listening to others. She was a talented cook and baker, and enjoyed gardening. Clara also enjoyed engaging in politics, and was proud to have worked with the campaigns of Delaware's Joe Biden and Tom Carper. A deeply religious person, she was devout in her Catholic faith.

Her husband, Joseph J. Kelley, passed away on October 30, 1986.

Clara is survived by her children, Kathleen Kelley Pombo (Melvin), Joan Kelly Fox (Irving Patrick), Joseph Kelley (Ellen); her grandchildren, Mark Christopher Pombo, Heather Pietuszka, Ryan Michael Pombo, Ryan A. Kelley, Sean M. Kelley, Ethan J. Kelley; and her great grandchildren, Sawyer, Tori, Dylan, Alexandra, Molly, Jake, Emelia.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Alfreda, Regina, Adela, Mary Louise, Helen, Thaddeus and Steve.

Friends may visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington on Tuesday, January 31 from 10:00-11:00AM. A Catholic funeral service will begin at 11:00AM, followed by interment in Cathedral Cemetery.
