He was preceded in death by his father Clarence A. Schwatka, Sr., his mother Catherine Faries Schwatka, sister Eva Melvin Krouse; two brothers Carl W. Schwatka and Edwin H. Schwatka, and a half-sister Louise Trivetts.

He is survived by his wife of 78 years Beulah Burris Schwatka, one daughter Joyce Ann Golt of Dover, 3 grandchildren, Michael R. Golt of Dover, Kimberly B. Knotts (Frank) of Bridgeville, DE and Sean C. Golt (Diana) of Dover, 5 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

His greatest passion was his 80-year membership in volunteer fire service. His active service with the Townsend Fire Co., whose building is named for him, was his crowning glory. He held many offices throughout the county and state in those 80 years.

The family sincerely wishes to thank Delaware Hospice for their excellent care with a special thanks to nurse Ashley.

We especially want to thank members of the Townsend Fire Co. and Townsend Ladies Auxiliary for all their support and kindness given to our husband, father and grandfather this last year.
