Dana Carroll King Obituary
Dana Carroll King

Dana Carroll King, 71, passed away peacefully at the Kutz Nursing Home on Wednesday, June 15th, losing her 10 year battle with Arachnoiditis, also known as failed back surgery. She was strong willed, especially through her long and painful illness. Doctors and nurses admired her determination to live and enjoy life even though her quality of life was severely diminished.

Dana leaves behind her sister, Sue Ansley (Bill) of Mooresville, NC; brother, Curtis Gibson (Jennifer) of Keyport, NJ; aunt, Sonia Popper and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Kutz Nursing Home and Season's Hospice for their gentle care of Dana. The nurses, aides and administration were always available with concern for Dana's health. Such loyalty and kindness has been invaluable.

Dana loved her church, pastor and congregation. They became her family. Life-long friendships were established giving Dana the love and support she needed. We would like to especially recognize Diana Decker, who served as Dana's medical advocate for the past several years. Her continuous support for Dana in the absence of her immediate family was exemplary. Dana loved Diana as a sister. The family is deeply thankful to everyone at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

A celebration of Dana's life will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 501 Duncan Road, Wilmington, DE 19809 on Saturday, June 25th. Visitation with family will be at 10 a.m. with church service at 11 a.m. A luncheon at the church will follow the service. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dana's memory to one of the following organizations who supported her: The Milton and Hattie Kutz Home, 704 River Road, Wilmington, DE 19809; Season's Hospice and Palliative Care, 220 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713; or St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 501 Duncan Road, Wilmington, DE 19809.
