Daniel M. Bove Obituary
Daniel M. Bove

AGE: 87 • Wilmington

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved father, Daniel Michael Bové. He passed away peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Saint Francis Compassionate Care Hospice in Wilmington, Delaware. Dad had a very fulfilling 87 years of life.

First and foremost, Dan was a devoted husband of 60 years to his wife, and best friend Anna C. Bové. His love and compassion for Anna was evident daily and he set the bar high showing how to honor and cherish your spouse. Dad was quick with a compliment on Mom's beauty, found her cooking irresistible and never took for granted the daily care she provided their family. Together they proudly raised six children: Michael Bové, Nancy Corr, Mary Sue Fierro, Jane Younger, Martha and Christopher Bové. As an added blessing the following 13 grandchildren were proud to affectionately call him "Poppy": Danielle Bové, Annie, Dylan and Patti Jo Corr, Vincent and Olivia Fierro, Jessica, Amy and Cole Younger, Noah and Jake Hannum, Alex and Madison Bové. An unforgettable memory of Poppy's love and generosity for the grandchildren was a trip to Turks and Caicos with the whole family to celebrate their grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. He will also be remembered by extended family and many other friends who have shared and enriched his life. Dad held a special place in his heart for his son and daughter-in-laws: Suzie Bové, Edgar Corr, Dr. James Fierro, Christopher Younger and Kimberly Bové.

Dan was one of four children born in Yonkers, New York to the late Mary and Joseph Michael Bové. His formal education ended with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in chemical engineering from Villanova University in 1950. Dad went on to honorably serve his country as a sergeant in the Korean War. Later, his engineering skills launched a successful career as a loyal and esteemed employee of the DuPont Company for over 40 years, as well as, provide a secure and comfortable living for his family.

Dad was an accomplished woodworker and took great pride in being the "Mr. Fix-It" for his family also, an avid golfer who loved the game for all of its traditions. Because of Dad, we will forever cherish the memories of our 40 years of family vacations in Stone Harbor, New Jersey and the sight of Mom and Dad playing endless games of cribbage on the beach. Over the years Dad also had a tender spot for all the family pets and we still refer to his endearing name of "Kizzer" for all dogs.

A very traditional and dedicated man himself he was very passionate about family, the Catholic faith, education and patriotism. His children will remember him as a loving and generous father who provided the necessary life skills, faith, and a college education to achieve professional success, as well as, personal happiness. We will be eternally grateful for his guidance and support for the many years as the patriarch of our large Italian family.

The Bové family would like to especially thank Dr. James Fierro for his many years of medical guidance, patience and compassion towards his father-in-law as he provided Dad with a life-time of care. We would also like to thank all the Compassionate Caretakers at Saint Francis Hospice who provided round the clock comfort and loving care to our father and his family during this most difficult end of life journey.

Funeral and graveside services were private. In lieu of flowers please send a charitable donation in our father's memory to Saint Francis Compassionate Care Hospice, 701 North Clayton Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19805.
