David Lee Wilson Obituary
David Lee Wilson

In passing from this life on October 30th, Lee left behind his wife Eleanor, whom he loved dearly for her attentive loving kindness and always emulating Christ in her daily life. Lee is also survived by his son Dave, daughter-in-law Jackie, and grandson Alex; niece Karin Bruce whom he helped to raise, her husband Rob, their daughter Cameren and son Kyle; In life, he was surrounded by many more nieces and nephews.

Lovingly referred to as "Boppa" by his grandchildren, Lee enjoyed being with them - Alex, Cameren, and Kyle - as they were growing up, and looked forward to each triumph and advance.

Lee graduated from Drexel Institute and the University of Delaware. He enlisted in the US Army for three years and learned to enjoy good German food and beer. He traveled extensively and met his high school French pen pal in Paris at the time when the French General Charles de Gaulle took power.

Lee and Eleanor traveled to California, Italy, and Ireland, enjoying especially San Francisco, Tuscany, and Rome, and saw the ancient Book of Kells in Dublin.

Music was a driving force in Lee's life, playing piano and trombone throughout his life. His retirement provided the opportunity for musical expression in the University of Delaware Lifelong Learning Symphonic band, the New Castle County Community Band, and the Slide-By-Slide trombone ensemble, being honored to play first trombone in all three groups.

He also participated in four musically challenging Presbyterian choirs over the years, as well as the finest choir of all, the Choir of St. Ann Catholic Church in Wilmington, into whose midst he was welcomed at every practice and mass.

We would like to thank the caregivers of Compassionate Care Hospice for their kindness, care and empathy, not just for Lee, but for the whole family.

Now and at the end of our days, let us all pray fervently, Come Lord Jesus!
