Deborah Kay "Debi" Wilson Obituary
Deborah "Debi" Kay Wilson

AGE: 67 • Lewes

Deborah Kay Wilson, age 67, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Monday, December 14, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. Debi had a kind heart and spent much of her time volunteering. She was dedicated to Meals On Wheels where she served in many functions including working with Chefs at Evening With the Masters and Celebrity Chef's Brunch. She was always willing to help where it was needed and always with a smile. Debi's true love was spending time with her family and friends. Her real passion was her involvement with the Miss Delaware and Miss America Organizations where she served in many capacities for more than 30 years before retiring as Executive Director. She loved all aspects of the pageants, but most important to her were the friendships she made all over the country with "her girls". She loved them all - some as mentor, some as daughters, but all as family. Debi's dream of living at the beach was realized when she moved to Lewes, DE. She loved her new apartment and certainly had a flare for decorating. Debi had the best summer ever, spending time with old friends and making new ones as well.

Debi was predeceased by her father, Francis and mother, Bess. She is survived by her sister, Shirley; brother, Bob (Nona); nephews: Bruce, Dave, Ron, and Darryl Thurber, Rob Wilson, and Andrew Tipton; niece, Dawn Tipton; and many cousins. She also leaves to cherish her memory, Carol Stevens, Antoinette DiMatteo, Sue DiMatteo, Virginia Stoltzfus Sciarra; her closest cousin, Carolyn Burris; and a host of friends and colleagues.

A visitation will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 from 9:30-11 AM at Fairwinds Baptist Church, 801 Seymour Rd., Bear, DE 19701 followed by a service in celebration of Debi's life at 11 AM. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The service can be viewed via webcast by visiting FairwindsBaptist.com at 11 AM. The family wishes to express thanks and deep appreciation to the ICU staff at Christiana Care for their compassion and exceptional care and also to Pastor Carlo DeStefano and the Fairwinds Baptist Church for their love and support. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations for the Meals On Wheels Delaware, 100 W. 10th St., Wilmington, DE 19801. For directions or to send an online condolence visit www.stranofeeley.com
