AGE: 85 • Wilmington

Mrs. Delois Raynor Robinson was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina on May 1, 1930, the only child of the late Henry Garley and Ester (Cole) Raynor. Delois departed this life at her residence on Wednesday, December 30, 2015.

She received her early education at St. Francis Catholic School in St. Bennett's Church in Newton Grove, NC. After moving to Wilmington, DE she graduated from Howard High School in 1962. In 1973, she received an Associate's degree from Delaware Technical and Community College and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilmington College (University) in 1981.

Upon arriving in Wilmington, she worked with her mother-in-law, Della Oates Wheeler at Della's restaurant. After Della's, she became a bookkeeper for Mammograms and later obtained a secretarial position, first at George Gray Elementary School and later at Shortlidge Elementary School. In 1978, she took a position with the United States District Court Clerk's Office in Wilmington and retired after 16 years in 1994. She was also a member of the local NAACP.

Delois loved the Lord and joined and attended Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1961, until her death in 2015. She volunteered at the church's Vacation Bible School, Sojourner's Place and A. I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington and assisted in the church's food pantry. Her numerous hobbies included baking, sewing and traveling, and she was especially proud of her flower and vegetable gardens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Larry J. Robinson and Bobby L. Robinson, Sr. and one daughter-in-law, Retiana Robinson. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her loving daughter, Dr. Melrose Robinson of Wilmington; two granddaughters, Lynette Hubbard (Levin) of Lincoln, DE and Lonyé D. Robinson of Richmond, VA; grandson, Chief Master Sergeant Bobby L. Robinson, Jr, of Dover; and her "other" granddaughter, Stephanie L. Robinson of Lynchburg, VA; godson, Leroy Burgess; six great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a devoted friend of 40 years, John Samuels of Wilmington and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2200 N. Claymont Street, Wilmington, DE 19802. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 6:00 PM. Entombment on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Gracelawn Memorial Park Memory Garden Mausoleum, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, Wilmington, DE 19720.
