Diane Porter


Diane Porter was born to Everett Smith and Dorothy Brodbeck Smith in Wilmington, Delaware. She graduated from Merchantville High School in 1952, Pierce School of Business, and Widener University. Diane was employed by RCA in Camden, New Jersey and in 1958 returned to Delaware to work for the DuPont Company as an Administrative Assistant. Diane was active in the Family Education Center from 1972 through 1979, an organization devoted to helping families create a supportive and loving atmosphere in their homes. She worked at Brandywine College as the Tutoring Program Coordinator. She was active in the First Unitarian Church of Wilmington, DE for many years.

Diane established many close friendships during her lifetime and remained close with people she met in every phase of her life. Diane loved to play golf, dance, attend theatre and music productions, and spend time with her friends and family.

Diane is survived by her husband of 51 years, Paul P. Porter; Daughter, Paige Porter Wolf and her husband Phil of Fairfax Station, VA; stepson Paul P. Porter III and his wife Melissa of Media, PA; four grandchildren, Kelsey Porter, Samantha Porter, Brian Wolf, and Dylan Wolf.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 16th 2016 at 1:30pm at the Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church, 10125 Lakehaven Court, Burke, VA 22015. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church.
