Dominick Anthony Davolos, born September 22, 1924 in Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully at Heartland Hospice on Thursday, January 19, 2017. Dom was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Theresa (Cecchi) Davolos, and his sister, Betty Vari (Frank).

Dom graduated from Wilmington High School, class of February 1943, and then enlisted in the Army Air Force the following month, serving during World War II. While in the service, he met the love of his life, Mae Watson, of Wilmington, DE. They were married on November 24, 1947. Dom was employed by Standard Distributing for 30 years, retiring in 1988.

Dom's most enjoyable times were spent tailgating at the University of Delaware football games with Mae, his sons and friends for 40 years. He also enjoyed weekly happy hours in his home with Mae, their sons and Scott.

Dom is survived by his wife, Mae, sister Josephine Franzone (Dominick), and the most loving and caring sons and daughters-in-law including Paul (Bette), Anthony (fiancée Janet), Richard (Kim), Gene, and daughter-in-law Diane. He was also Pop Pop to nine grandchildren (Cory, Anthony, Brooke, Tricia, Brandon, Madison, Gene, Alex, Kyrstin) and two great-grandchildren (Leyland and Harken).

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707 on Thursday, January 26 at 12:00pm; viewing will be held at 10am prior to mass at St. Mary of the Assumption. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.

The Davolos family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice (Pike Creek) for their compassionate care of Dom during his stay.
