Donald Charles Abbott Obituary
Donald Charles Abbott

AGE: 66 • Wilmington

Donnie Abbott entered this world on April 24, 1950. He was the middle son of Paul C. Abbott and Elva C. Abbott. On March 30, 1985, he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and on March 11, 2017, he left this earth to be with Jesus for eternity. Donnie worked at and retired from Amtrak Railroad and was recently a school bus driver. He was privileged to have traveled to India twice, Bangladesh, and the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico to share the Gospel. He loved to play the guitar and never missed an opportunity to strum and belt out a song. Donnie would do anything for anyone and was always just one phone call away. "Only one life, 'twill soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last." C.T. Studd, Christian Missionary

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Marisa, her husband Phil, and their precious daughters, Cora and Hope; his son, Zacharias; and his junior high school sweetheart, Margaret "Maggie" M. Abbott, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage; his brothers, Ronald P. Abbott and family, and Martin J. Abbott and family. He also leaves many other relatives, friends, acquaintances, and brothers and sisters in Christ.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 19, 2017, from 4-7 PM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Donnie's life at 7 PM. Burial will be Monday, March 20, 2017 in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another." John 13:34-35. For directions or to send an online condolence visit
