Donald Demerest Hall Obituary
Donald Demerest Hall

AGE: 72 • MILFORD

Donald Demerest Hall of Milford, Delaware passed away on June 29, 2016 at Genesis Milford Center in Milford, Delaware.

He was born December 9, 1943 in Milford, Delaware to Richard and Elizabeth Hall. He graduated from Milford High School and Wesley College and, in 1963, wed high school sweetheart Mary Ann Killen.

Donald spent his early career at the DuPont Company in Seaford, DE and Acme Markets and ultimately worked for Kirby & Holloway Provision Company for over 30 years before his retirement in 2008. He and his wife owned and operated The Learning Center daycare center for 38 years and he was a member of Calvary Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church in Milford. Donald had a variety of lifetime interests; toy trains, duck hunting with childhood friends, making homemade ice-cream, playing golf, taking cruises, and traveling to Florida and Hilton Head. He loved the beach and enjoyed sunbathing and swimming. He could be counted on for his good humor, easy disposition, and unwavering dependability. He was kind and a friend to all he met. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Predeceased by his parents and beloved wife of 51 years, he is survived by three children: Betsy Wheeler and her husband Earl, and their three children Callie, Rex, and Wyatt (Corolla, NC); Alex Hall and his wife Tami and their children Jennifer Sapienza, Steve Swain, and Juliana Hall (Milton, DE); and Abby Hall Johnston (Winston-Salem, NC). He also leaves behind his sister Patricia Deputy (Milford, DE).

A memorial service, followed by fellowship, will be held Saturday July 9, 2016 at 1:30pm at First Presbyterian Church, 101 South Walnut Street, Milford, DE. Burial will be private. Anyone interested in making donations in lieu of flowers may support The Learning Center, 258 N. Rehoboth Boulevard, Milford, DE 19963 or the , 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106 (a cause close to his heart that took his wife too soon).

The family would like to express its gratitude to the staff of the Genesis Center where Donald had been rehabilitating intermittently since February 2016.
