E. Isabel Jones

E. Isabel Jones departed this life on Thursday August 27, 2015 at the age of 91. She passed away at Manor Care Pike Creek. Isabel was the daughter of the late William Baird & Elizabeth Kidd Baird. Isabel was born on October 13, 1923 in Wilmington, DE.

She was predeceased by her husband Frank R. Jones, her brother William T. Baird and her Fox Terrier Spike. She is survived by her son Rodney Jones of Fort Collins, CO and her daughter Cheryl L. Penoza and her husband Thomas of New Castle. She leaves behind two beloved grandsons Steve Penoza and fiancé Mary Cloney and Kevin Penoza and wife Jen. Her pride and joy was being a great grandmother to Quinn and Breckin Penoza. Also survived by two brother's Walter Baird and Robert and wife Ruth Baird. Isabel graduated from AI DuPont high school in 1942 playing field hockey, basketball. She also loved horses and rode competitively in many shows. Isabel and Frank were married prior to Frank serving in the Coast Guard during World War II. Isabel was devoted to raising her family and enjoyed boating, gardening and caring for animals. Isabel was the neighborhood expert on lost and injured animals. She will be remembered for her homemade applesauce, vegetable soup and coleslaw.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Marquez, Manor Care Pike Creek Staff, Debra Lacey, Sherri Bompton, and Suzette Allen for their care and support.

A memorial gathering will be celebrated at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church 500 McKennans Church Rd, Wilmington, DE on September 10, 2015 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow at Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church Cemetery 101 Old Kennett Rd, Wilmington, DE.
