Edgar 'Duty' Hevelow

AGE: 83 • Warwick

Edgar (Duty) Hevelow age 83 of Warwick, Maryland died on Monday, October 26, 2015.

Born on January 31, 1932, son of the late Jesse and Rachael (Husfelt) Hevelow, and preceded by his brother, William (Sox) Hevelow, sister, Anna Hevelow, granddaughter, Heather Price and son-in-law, Robert Price.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bernice; two daughters, Dottie Mortimer (Bruce) and Connie England (Tom); five granddaughters, Melissa Fields (Adrian), Kerri Santos (Michael), Ashley Holl (Eugene), Kelley Hanna (Kaleb), Amanda Edge (Curtis) and eight great grandchildren, Ariana, Javon, Michael, Nevaeh, Brayden, Thomas, Sammy and Joseph. He also is survived by his two sisters, Jane Lockwood and Elsie Blanchfield (Earle).

Duty graduated from Cecilton High School in 1949. He was very active in sports, played baseball for American Legion and local area teams. He started the first Little League in Cecilton, Maryland in 1959. He was lifelong farmer in the Cecilton Warwick area for over 60 years. He was also active as a Soil Conservation Supervisor for over 40 years, receiving their Lifetime Service Award in 2013. He was involved in Resource Conservation and Development Council as a committee member and also served as a member of the Board of Directors for Southern States and Farm Bureau numerous times. In 1972 he was Farmer of the Year by Cecil County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Warwick Methodist Church serving as a trustee.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Amedisys Care, especially Raeann, Terri, Alesha and Carol West for their support and loving care.

Additionally, the family would like to express their great appreciation to Billy Snow for all the love and care he has provided to Duty as well as the family for 50 years.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 30 from 6 to 8pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 West Cross St. Galena, MD, where funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31 at 11am. Burial in Zion Cemetery, Cecilton, MD.
