Edward J. Duffy, 88 of Bear, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, June 10, 2013 in Seasons Hospice at Christiana Hospital.

Ed was a graduate of St. Paul's School and Salesianum School, class of 1943. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army Air Corps. He retired in 1980 from Chrysler Corporation in Newark after 30 years. After his retirement, he drove a school bus for handicapped children for the Brandywine School District for ten years, retiring in 1994. Ed was a former President of UAW Local 1212, Office of Clerical Workers. He served on the Board of Catholic Charities in the 1960's and was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for over 20 years.

Ed was a native of Wilmington and the brother of former Superior Court Justice William Duffy, who died in 1997. He was also predeceased by his brother, Robert Duffy of Greenwich, CT; and his two sisters, Charlotte Duffy of Wilmington and Winifred Blansfield of Wilmington.

His first wife, Helen Murawski died in 1990. Ed married Mary DaCosta in 1992, and was predeceased by her in 2010.

He is survived by three sons, Michael Parsons and his wife, RuthAnn of Newark, Christopher Parsons of Millsboro and Rick Parsons and his wife, Gina of Newark; his two daughters, Donna Weaver and her husband, Wayne of Bear and Dana DaSilva of Middletown; his eleven grandchildren and his two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4th Street and Bancroft Parkway, Wilmington on Friday, June 14 from 10:00 - 11:15AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ed may be sent to Salesianum School, 1801 N. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19802 or Catholic Charities, 2601 W. 4th Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.
