Elizabeth (Bacon) Cannon Obituary
Elizabeth (Bacon) Cannon

AGE: 85 • Chadds Ford

Elizabeth Ann Cannon, of Chadds Ford, PA, age 85, passed away peacefully early in the morning on April 2, 2016. Elizabeth had beautiful blue eyes. This photo was taken when she was 45 years old. She was born in Wilmington, DE and most people from her childhood called her "Betty Ann".

She is survived by her son Christopher Scott Cannon, MD & her grandchildren Zachary and Gabrielle Cannon of Harrisburg, PA; and her daughter Cynthia Morgan of Chadds Ford, PA. Her son-in-law, Paul W. "Chip" Morgan passed in 2013. Her father, William T. Bacon, passed in 1992 and her mother, Elizabeth (Bell) Bacon passed in 1942.

Elizabeth attended Ursuline Academy in Wilmington (1936-1948). She enjoyed the art classes and field hockey. She attended Moore Institute of Art & Design in Philadelphia (1948-1950). Bright and gifted artistically, she was especially talented with drawings.

Elizabeth worked at Brandywine Racetrack (1973 - 1990, Cashier in the Parking Dept.) and at various financial institutions such as PNC Bank (1968-1973, Teller). She worked well into her 70's by choice.

Elizabeth loved flowers, especially coral colored ones. She had beautiful flowers around her entranceway every year and watered them daily. She loved animals, especially cats. She took in many strays during her lifetime and they became a part of her family. She also put food out on the doorstep for wildlife. Her door had a full length window so that she could watch them come visit and enjoy their meal.

Thank you to those who visited Elizabeth in the rehabilitation/nursing homes and the hospitals over the past five months. You surely brightened her day, and helped her.

A private memorial will be held near Mother's Day weekend.

In lieu of flowers to the family please give a pretty flowering plant to someone in a nursing home or hospital to brighten her or his stay. Or donate to an organization that helps animals. Or give to one of these three organizations as they all helped Elizabeth during her final days on earth: Seasons Hospice (in-hospital hospice at Christiana Care), 220 Continental Dr. Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713, Christiana Care Hospital, www.christianacare.org/donors, or Easter Seals Delaware & Maryland's Eastern Shore, 61 Corporate Circle New Castle, DE 19720.
