Obituary Condolences

Emily Kline Zufelt

Wilmington, Delaware

Age 77, passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday, September 6, 2015 after a brief illness.

Emily was born in Mishawaka, IN, the daughter of Marcus (Mark) and Anna Blanford (Nan) Kline. While studying at St. Mary's College she met her future husband, Jack, an engineering student at the University of Notre Dame. After he graduated in 1958, he started working for DuPont as a chemical engineer and they built a family while being transferred around the country, living in or near Montague, MI, Louisville, KY, New Orleans, LA, and Wilmington, DE.

Emily was a devoted wife and mother, and was a tireless volunteer for the many schools, scout troops, marching bands, sport teams, and theater groups her children participated in. She was a multi-talented musician who could play virtually any instrument. Later in life she was also a highly skilled, self-taught computer network administrator. Emily was an avid birder and had a very special place in her heart for bald eagles, which she thought were beautiful and majestic.

Emily is survived by: her six children, Jerry (Edie), of Greensburg, PA, Nancy Lamothe (Steve), of Colchester, VT, Colleen, of Wilmington, Michele Della Fera (Joseph), of Landenberg, PA, John (Dea), of Wilmington, and Jim Kiley-Zufelt (Mike), of Collingswood, NJ; her fourteen grandchildren, Mark (Heather), Victoria Ferris (Edwin), and Timothy Zufelt, Jereme, Christopher, Daniel, and Peter Lamothe, Matthew and Daniel Tomczak, Brian and Emily Della Fera, and Michael, Kevin and Joseph Zufelt; one great-grandchild, Grayson; her brother, John Kline (Jan) of Brownsburg, IN; and by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Kline (Candy) of Columbus, OH, and by her beloved husband Jack.

The memorial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to the National Audubon Society (
