Francis "Frank" J. Long, Sr.

AGE: 80 • Milton, DE

Francis "Frank" J. Long, Sr., age 80, of Milton, DE and formerly of Pilottown Village in Lewes, DE, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Beebe Healthcare, in Lewes, DE. He was born Saturday, December 28, 1935 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Victor H. and Elizabeth L. (Carragher) Long.



Mr. Long was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes, DE. He retired from the State of DE, after retirement he worked at Marsh Island Golf Club for a time and also at The Cape May-Lewes Ferry. Mr. Long was a limited partner in the Wilmington Blue Rocks.



Mr. Long kept himself busy with various activities and clubs. He was a member and served on the board of the Midway Lions Club as well as the State of Delaware Gaming Board and Appraisal Board. He was a member of the Cape Henlopen State Park and he was very instrumental in getting the osprey cam up and running. He was the chairman for the New Castle County Democratic Party where he expressed his political points of view. Mr. Long was very active in childrens ice hockey and various little league baseball programs.



In addition to his parents, Mr. Long is preceded in death by his son, Denny Moore, his brother, Victor Long, Jr. and his sister, Paula Hoffman. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Long; two sons: Randy Moore, of Fairfax, VA and Joe Long and his wife, Kerri, of Daniel Island, SC; his two daughters: Debbie Galante and her husband, Tom, of Townsend, DE and Sandee Addison and her husband, Brian, of Ashburn, VA; a sister: Mary Elizabeth Bragg, of Baltimore, MD; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 12:00 PM at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE where friends may visit beginning at 11:00 AM.
