AGE: 73 • Newark

Francis "Moe" McKinley, 73, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home on November 9, 2015.

Francis was born in Wilmington, DE on July 2, 1942, son of the late Charles and Helen McKinley. After growing up in the St. Ann's Parish, and later graduating from Salesianum High School class of 1960, Francis became a lifetime member of IBEW 313, retiring in 2002.

Francis was incredibly proud to have been a part of the "Forty Acres" neighborhood and Stapler Athletic Association. He was equally as proud of his Irish heritage. Francis will always be remembered by many as the infamous leprechaun in Wilmington's Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Francis was known as being true and loyal to all that knew him. This was shown through his devotion as a fan to UD football for over fifty years, his dedication to IBEW 313, serving as President of the Retiree Club, and his 22-year commitment to the AA program and all of those he helped along the way.

He will always be remembered for his kindness, patience, strength, and courage.

Francis is predeceased by his brother, Lawrence McKinley. He is survived by his daughters, Kristen and Erin McKinley; his brothers, Charles McKinley, Bernard McKinley and his wife Margaret; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his loyal companions, Ralph, Lloyd, Maddie, and Zoe.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00am on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Gilpin Avenue and Union Street, Wilmington, DE 19806. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
