Frank J. Vadala, Jr.

AGE: 80 • Middletown

Frank J. Vadala, Jr. passed away suddenly on January 9 at his home. Frank was born on July 27, 1935. The son of the late Frank and Frances Vadala, he was raised in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, with his 11 brothers and sisters. He moved to Delaware, where he met and married his wife of 54 years, Winfred Vadala. They built their homes and raised their family in Middletown, Delaware. Frank was an Ironworker with Local 451 in Wilmington for 40 years, where he also served as President and Business Agent of the local union. He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies and playing his lottery numbers. His favorite number was 451. One of his greatest joys was being Pop-Pop to his grandchildren. He lived a good life.

Frank is survived by his wife, Winfred Vadala; his daughter, Frances Resto (Bill); his sons, Russell Marando (Teresa) and Michael Marando (Grace); his grandchildren, Dawn Marando, Frank Marando and Gabriel Resto; great grandchildren, Donald Hunter and Anthony Hunter; and great-great grandchild, Ryleigh Nicole Hunter. Frank is also survived by his sisters, Judy Muia and Catherine Werwinski.

Frank was predeceased by his sisters and brothers, Rosella Vadala, Frances Baffone, Jean Knowles, Sandra Moser, Rita Ruddy, Dorothy Warren, Marie Wilson, Patrick Vadala and Joseph Vadala.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 371 E. Main St., Middletown, DE 19709 on Saturday, January 16 at 9:00 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Benedictine School for Exceptional Children, 14299 Benedictine Lane, Ridgely, Maryland 21660.
