George served in the Army during the Korean War. When he came home from his tour, he began driving for Mayflower Trucking Co. George also volunteered his services with the activities department, he enjoyed playing bingo and watching the horse races and playing the slots at Delaware Park. When the VA Hospital closed down their long term care unit, George went to live with his niece and caretaker, Margaret (Peggy) Aiello, where he resided until he became a permanent resident at the Delaware State Veterans Home in Milford, DE.

He had a smile for everyone and was loved by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters' Eva Darlington, Louise Walling, Mary J. Russell; brothers, Marvin Schofield, Thomas Murz, Samuel Schofield, and John Schofield.
