George Clinton Cullum, Jr.


George Clinton Cullum, Jr., age 83, of Elkton, MD, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Elkton on May 27, 1932, he was the son of the late George C., Sr. and Helen McKnight Cullum.

Mr. Cullum was a 1952 graduate of Elkton High School, and retired from General Motors Corporation, Wilmington, DE, after 48 years of service. He was an active member of Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church, Newark, DE, and Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lodge #12. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Orioles, Ravens and NASCAR. His hobbies included bowling, gardening and constantly staying busy outdoors. Most of all, Mr. Cullum loved to spend time with his family and always had a joke to tell.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Virginia Jaquette Cullum; daughters, Ruth Ann Mansure (Jack), Newark, DE, and Christine Sutton (Chris), Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Erica and friend, Justin Trump, and Christopher (Devon Freudenberger); brother, Terry Cullum (Judy); former sister-in-law, Susan Carlton; and a host of friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by his dogs, Jake and Jesse.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Head of Christiana Presbyterian Cemetery, Newark, DE.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of 3E Medical Intensive Care Unit at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.
