George Roman Sowinski, age 69, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Hockessin, DE and Jersey City, NJ passed away suddenly on Friday, December 4, 2015 in Kearny NJ.

George was born in Dormagen Germany and immigrated with his parents Frank and Irene Sowinski to the United States on November 10, 1949 when he was 3 years old.

George is a 1964 graduate of St. Anthony High School, Jersey City, NJ.

He was very proud to become a citizen of the United States and to serve his country in the United States Air Force. He is a Vietnam veteran.

George was a machinest and retired after 34 years at PSEG, working at the Hudson Generating Station, Jersey City and Salem Nuclear Generation Station in Lower Alloways Creek NJ. After retiring from PSEG, George began a new adventure working for National Metering Services, Inc. of Kearny NJ.

George is the son of the late Frank & Irene Sowinski and is the beloved husband of 42 years to Elizabeth (nee Castrovinci) Sowinski and loving father of Joseph Alexander Sowinski and his wife Stacey.

He is the #1 son-in-law of Elizabeth Feltz Verdiano. George is the brother of Bernadette Antonowicz, Frank Sowinski and his wife Joanne. He is the favorite brother-in-law and "life-line" of Laura and John Burke, Connie and James Bernardo, Sara and Andrew Fourounjian and Joseph and Miriam Castrovinci.

George will be missed by his many nieces and nephews, Amanda, Frank and Kimberly, Valerie, Michael, Jamie and Matt, Susan, John Jr., Jillian, Alison, Nicole, Krista, Priscilla, Joseph and Anthony and great nieces and great nephews Logan, Blakely, Michael Jr, Gary, Giovanni, Jade, Angelina, Emilia and Damien.

Visitation at Riotto Funeral Home, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd, Jersey City, NJ 07306 on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 7-9p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral on Thursday, 9 AM arrival to the funeral home, Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
