Gordon Lee Jenks

Wilmington - Gordon Lee Jenks, 63, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware, died October 20, 2018 in his hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania.

Gordon loved his sons Andrew Jenks of Newark, Delaware and Samuel Jenks of Stockholm, Sweden even more than he loved rooting for his lifelong favorite sports team, the Cleveland Browns. Gordon watched his sons grow up playing goalball, baseball, saxophone, and drums, while teaching his sons his love of cooking, Christmas, history, dogs, and television shows where the camera pans through endless miles of scenery.

Gordon was enthusiastic for fishing, local theater, and reading about traveling. Gordon got the chance to eat pasta in Italy, herring in Sweden, and perch in Erie. In addition to Andy and Sam, Gordon is survived by the mother of his children, Elaine Jenks, by his brother, Daniel Jenks, by his sister-in-law Heidi Jenks, and by many beloved friends and extended family members. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and Charles Jenks, and by Joshua Bass.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful people at VNA Hospice, Kate, you added some sanity through this journey. Thank you Home Instead, everyone's help was wonderful, thanks Stefany.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Gordon Lee Jenks at a future date in Erie, Pennsylvania. If you would like to make a donation in Gordon's name, please choose an organization that is working to make the world a better place.

From time to time, I come back to this page as I see old co-workers who ask about Gordon "Jenks" as we often called him. It's still so hard to believe. Gordon was a great employee. In fact, he was one of my best. He was also funny.

The last time I saw him, he came to see me at my office to tell me that he was moving back to PA. We had a laugh and then he went on his way.

My fondest memory was when our senior administrator was laughing really hard. I went to see why she was laughing. Jenks has taken a mini pic of his face and taped it on the head of male figure bathroom door decal of the men's bathroom. It was so funny, and apparently it had been there for a while, he did it to keep the women out of the men's bathroom, lol..

I continue to pray for the family and pray that you are still finding comfort in the memories shared. We at DSS team 110 and all of Canby Park miss you greatly "Jenks"!

I am so very sorry to hear of Gordon's passing. We were good friends in college and he always had a smile and a laugh for everyone! What a talented and warm person! I am glad for the experience back in those days of having such a wonderful friendship!

To the Jenks Family,

Please accept my condolences in your time of grief. Gordon and I were co-workers with Delaware Division of Social Services. We worked at the Canby Park office. Gordon was such a great co-worker always willing to assist me when I had questions regarding a case. He had that wonderful smile and laughter. Gordon I appreciate the conversations we had; the learning experience I acquired from you. You will be missed. RIP

To the Jenks family,
I am so very sadden to read of Gordon's death. We had met at the Erie Chamber Orchestra concerts. We clearly shared the same passion for music and social justice issues, since we then would continue to run into one another at various events and venues. He always greeted me with a smile and conversation. He spoke lovingly of his children. Albeit far too brief, I enjoyed my time with him.
