Harold Clinton "Clint" Howard Obituary
Harold Clinton "Clint" Howard

AGE: 78 •

Harold Clinton Howard passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, October 31, 2016 after a long illness. Clint was born in Boaz, Alabama on January 6, 1938. As a young man, he moved to Delaware where he graduated from William Penn High School, and met his first wife and mother of his children, Joanne Robinson Jones. Affectionately known as "Reb," the two met on a dance floor at The Armory, and married in August of 1957. "Reb" was a great dancer and loved music, playing the guitar and the harmonica. He served in the Army Reserves and later worked for Wilmington Fibre Specialty Company in New Castle for nearly 30 years, followed by 17 years at Marshalls/TJMaxx Companies until he retired in 2003.

Clint later met Jeannette Morgan at a "Parents without Partners" dance, and they married in August of 1993. They enjoyed their life together traveling to Walt Disney World every October. Clint cared for Jeannette during her long illness until her death in March of 2013. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Clint knew what a kind and caring man he was; always concerned for others. During his illness, his physicians and members of his medical team would express what a true gentleman he was; always patient and kind.

He is survived by his brothers: Jerry Howard and Ronald Howard (Barbara); his children, Theresa Vreken and husband Kevin, Richard Howard and partner Tammy Zane, and Linda Mayhorn and husband Teddy. Clint is also survived by his six grandchildren, Brooke & Lauren Vreken, Sean and Matthew Howard, Angelina Mayhorn, and Michael Penn, Jr., along with his 5 great grandchildren. Clint was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Howard, his mother, Mary Ruth Howard and father, Elmous Howard.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 10 from 10-11 AM at the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702. A service in celebration of Harold's life will take place at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
