Harvey C. Kimmey, Jr.

Glenside, PA - Harvey C. Kimmey Jr., age 84, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2018.

Harvey was born on February 25, 1934 in Milford, DE to the late Harvey C. Kimmey Sr. and Mary Bunting Kimmey. A graduate of Milford High School, he moved to northern Delaware to work as a construction estimator. He contributed to projects pivotal to the growth of the region, including the Delaware Memorial Bridge and the Christiana Hospital.

Harvey aspired to be a leader of his community. He was active with local churches where he enjoyed singing hymns alongside his family. He was also a proud member of the Penndrew Manor Civic Association and the Conservative Caucus of Delaware.

In 2011, Harvey moved to the Edgehill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to be close to his daughter Mary J. Blake, her husband Rob, and their son Thomas, who brought boundless joy to his Pop-pop. Harvey found a home at Edgehill and is remembered for his sense of humor and his champion chess and checker skills. The family extends gratitude to his care providers and shares condolences with friends he made among the residents and staff. He will be missed especially by his beloved Pearl "Connie" Izzo who was beside him until the end.

Harvey is preceded in death by brothers, Robert "Bob" Kimmey of Seaford and James "Jim" Kimmey of Dover; and former wife, Nancy S. Kimmey. Harvey is survived by two daughters, Deborah A. Kimmey of Brooklyn, NY and Mary J. Blake (Robert) of Roslyn, PA, and grandson Thomas A. Blake; nieces, Gae Piotti and Joy Murray; sister-in-law, Donna Johnson; and nephews, Chris and Matt Kimmey.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, May 20 at New Life Presbyterian, 467 N Easton Rd in Glenside, PA. To express an online condolence, visit
