Helen G. "Miss Helen" Aulisa
On April 21, 2021, while at home and with her son Jerry by her side, we bid farewell to the lady we affectionately called, Miss Helen. Helen was born on June 20, 1934 to Bill and Bernice Williams the fifth of eight children. She was raised in Linwood, PA. She married Gerard 'Pinky" Aulisa, the man who worshiped the ground she walked on, in September 1953. Helen embraced Pinky's Italian heritage and his family. She could whip up an Italian meal like she had been born and raised in Little Italy. Miss Helen was a traditional "Home Maintenance Engineer". She loved her family and her joy was their happiness and a spotless house. She ran a daycare out of her home for the children of her friends, but when her own grandchildren started arriving in 1981, they became her exclusive clients. Her daughter, Liz, always credited Miss Helen for watching her children so she could continue her career. Helen also took care of 5 grand dogs over the years. With Helen's house steps away from the school bus stop, her grandkids and their friends had the benefit of hopping off the bus to a home filled with snacks and love. This love extended to Michigan where her son John and his family live. Pinky and Helen enjoyed many summers at their beach house in Ocean View, DE. This gave her a different location and opportunity to spoil all eight of her grandkids. During her brief illness, Helen came in contact with many healthcare professionals. She never missed an opportunity to tell them she was very lucky, she had a great life and a wonderful family. Her family was grateful to have memorable times with her during her final months and days.
Miss Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Pinky on January 21, 2004, her daughter-in-law Debbie on May 17, 2018 and her grandson, Johnny on May 11, 2020. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth "Liz" and husband Daniel Waters, her son Gerard "Jerry", son John and his wife Nancy. Grandchildren include Jessica Boykin, Danny Waters and his wife Meredyth, Aimee and her husband Andy Russell, Jerry and his wife Sarah, Joshua, Rachel and Jacob Aulisa. She had four great-grandchildren, Jack & Bailey Boykin and Madison & Brayden Russell. Helen also leaves behind her brothers Robert and John Williams and sister Virginia Getz along with many nieces and nephews. Last but not at all the least her loyal grand dog, Harry, who was a comfort to her and by her side throughout her final months.
Pinky has waited patiently for 17 years to be reunited with Helen. An urn with both of their remains will be interred on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 11 am at Lawncroft Cemetery in Linwood, PA. As a result of the pandemic, the family has decided to have a private burial but appreciates the thoughts and prayers of our friends.
